Stephen Ministry

Stephen Ministry offers a proven and effective way to organize, equip, and supervise a team of congregation members—called Stephen Ministers—to provide high-quality, one-to-one, Christ-centered care to people in the congregation and the community experiencing life difficulties. Stephen Ministers are congregation members trained by their Stephen Leaders to offer care to people who are hurting. A Stephen Minister typically has one care receiver at a time and meets with that person once a week for about an hour.

Prayer Network

Our Prayer Network currently consists of members from the congregation who pray regularly for other members, other family, and/or friends. All prayer requests are kept confidential unless permission is granted to include the name in the monthly newsletter and in prayers said in church. If you have a prayer request for the Prayer Network, please notify Pastor Jason.

Eucharistic Ministry

Our Eucharistic ministers bring Holy Communion to those who are unable to attend worship. Going in pairs, communion is delivered to people in their homes, hospitals, and assisted living facilities. A brief training session is a part of orientation, followed by shadowing an experienced eucharistic minister on a visit. A written guide is provided as a visit help tool.  In addition to communion, it is common to pray with the person as a part of your time together. If you are interested in becoming a Eucharistic Minister or are know of someone who would like to receive Holy Communion, please contact us.

Bear Ministry

The Teddy Bear Ministry shares God’s Love, Care, and Comfort. You’ll find the bears sitting in the pews of our sanctuary. Each Bear has a tag that reads, “This bear has been among the congregation of Messiah Lutheran Church. It has heard the Word read, prayers prayed, praises sung, and sermons preached. It has been loved by Messiah and has soaked in God’s love. Now it comes to you with blessings of worship and love.” Anyone may take a Teddy Bear to share with another. We’ve seen Bears head to the hospital, to the homebound, to those suffering loss, and to kids or grandkids who celebrated worship with us. If you take a bear and would like to make an offering for the cost of future bears, you may place an offering in the offering plate designated to “bear ministry.”

Stroke Support Group

Through listening and discussion, the Stroke Support Group allows survivors and caregivers to create meaningful lives after a stroke. The group meets monthly. Check our calendar for dates and times.
