Don’t miss the 28-voice, highly select, mixed choir from BGSU! Consisting principally of juniors, seniors, and graduate students majoring in music, the Chorale engages audiences with authentic and conscientious performances of sophisticated and exceptional music, seeking to connect to listeners intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually. These college-age men and women sing with skill and heart!
The concert will include sacred and secular music that runs the gamut from a Byrd motet to vocal jazz, from impassioned Brahms part songs to enchanting Debussy chansons, and from atmospheric pieces by Messiaen, Lundvik, and Whitacre to an exuberant love song by Finzi.
Crop Hunger Walk -Skidaway Island, Savannah, GA
The 3rd Skidaway Island Crop Walk will be on Sunday, April 30th at 12:30 p.m. We invite all to come participate: walk, donate, drive your cart, bring your kids, pull your wagon, walk your dog to help raise awareness of world hunger and hunger in Chatham County!
25% of the funds raised go to America’s Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia.
For walkers and donators, following the walk there will be a lunch at Messiah Lutheran Church of pulled pork, chips, fruit, lemonade and iced tea and we might even have some entertainment too.

Messiah ARTS— Romantic Expressions ~ Sonatas for Violin & Piano
4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at Messiah Lutheran Church. There will be an informal reception of wine and chocolate after the concert. ( For additional information, please see our February Newsletter on the Home page)
Let yourself slip classically into a Valentine’s Day’s frame of mind by attending a superb concert featuring Sonatas for Violin and Piano by Johannes Brahms and Gabriel Fauré. Enchanting us with this music will be Russian violinist Larisa Elisha, accompanied by KarlaRocker on piano.
Dr. Elisha is an internationally acclaimed soloist, chamber musician and pedagogue, having performed and taught extensively throughout Europe and the United States. She was Concertmaster of the Witold Lutoslawski State Philharmonic, Principal Violinist of the Leopoldinum Chamber Orchestra, and Artistic Director and First Violinist of the Wratislavia String Quartet. She was Professor of Violin, Chamber Music and Pedagogy at the K. Lipinski Academy of Music in Wroclaw, Poland.
Accompanying Dr. Elisha on piano will be Karla Rocker, who joined the Georgia Southern University faculty as Coordinator of Collaborative Piano in the fall of 2002 after completing her doctorate in piano accompanying and chamber music at Florida State University under the direction of Dr.Carolyn Bridger. A native Texan, Dr. Rocker holds a degree in piano performance from New Mexico State University and the Master of Music degree in Piano Accompanying from Arizona State University.
The concert is free, but contributions will be gratefully accepted to help defray costs
Women’s Epiphany Tea –Saturday, January 7, 2017, starting at 10:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall.
The event is entitled “For Women, By Women, About Women” and will be hosted by the Ladies of Craft ‘n Gab. Please sign-up on the sheet posted on the kiosk in the narthex.
As is also a tradition at this event, we will be revealing Secret Pals from 2016 and getting new ones for 2017. You DO NOT have to participate in Secret Pals to attend! If you can’t attend, but would like a Secret Pal fro 2017, please let Argerie Martin or Connie Squibb

Christmas Potluck. Santa is expected to make a stop! We will need to have an accurate count no later than following the Worship Service this Sunday. We need to make sure we have enough chairs and tables set up.

ALL SAINTS SUNDAY CONCERT – It was GREAT!
All Saints Day concert was Sunday, November 6 and Messiah voices and instruments gave praise to the glory of God. From the youngest participant, Amir (8) playing percussion, to the eldest, it was a wonderful experience. Thank you Messiah talents!
Sept. 30 — We had a wonderful night of food and fellowship! If you missed it, see you next year!
Oktoberfest comes once again to Messiah. Members and guests of Messiah can join in the fun of celebrating Martin Luther’s heritage, with oompah music, drink and good ole German brats and more, under the big tent! Get your frocks and lederhosen out and your dancing shoes on! It an event not to be missed! Tickets are $30 from the church office or member s of the men’s group.
